We are proud to announce that we will be joined by North West Combined Counties Referee Pool Allocations Officer and Active EFL Assistant Referee, Alex Gray for our July MDS.
July MDS | Thursday 16th July

Get to know Alex...
Alex qualified as a Football Referee in Manchester in 2006 before progressing to Level 4 officiating on the Combined Counties League in the South East. In 2014 Alex was promoted to Level 3 refereeing on the Contributory Leagues before becoming a Specialist Assistant Referee. His performances earned promotion to the National League Premier in 2018 and in 2022 to the Football League where he currently operates as a National Group Assistant Referee.
In May 2021 Alex was awarded his Three Lions following his appointment as Assistant Referee for the National League System Cup Final between Jersey and West Cheshire marking a significant milestone in his refereeing career.
Away from the pitch Alex has always been passionate about developing Match Officials. After spending several seasons as a Referee Observer he "turned away from the dark side" and now works as a Match Day Coach supporting and mentoring referees to help them reach their potential.
Alex has also been heavily involved in the administration of football throughout his refereeing career. Having supported the Cheshire League Appointments Officer since 2007 it was a natural progression for him to take on the role of Appointments Officer for the North West Combined Counties Referee Pool in 2024 overseeing appointments for the largest Supply League Referee Pool in the country.
We're bound to be in for an insightful evening with such a high-calibre guest speaker with an extensive wealth of knowledge to share amongst our membership. We look forward to (hopefully) seeing you all there!
