Founded in 1898 as Bury & District Referees' Association, we have continually evolved to meet the needs of local match officials. In February 2019, we became Bury and North Manchester Referees' Association to reflect our wider support for referees across the region. Continuing the tradition of growth, in 2025, we successfully merged with Rochdale RA to form the unified Bury & Rochdale Referees' Association, strengthening our ability to support our members across a larger football area.

• to endeavour to improve the standard of refereeing

• to provide support, training and development so that the interpretation of the Laws of the game is as consistent as possible

• to advise, protect and further the interests of members
